Class Descriptions

Creative Dance is for our youngest dancers, ages 3 and 4. The 45-minute class is an introduction to the basics of ballet, rhythm and movement through fun and innovative ways meant to instill a love for dance, while expanding the child's creative approach to movement. Basic coordination and musical skills are improved while exploring shape, rhythm and form with special props and activities.


Kinder Combo is for our Kindergarten aged children. This is your child's introduction to traditional dance through a combimation class of ballet, creative movement and tap. Instruments are used to teach rhythm and musical awareness. We also instill etiquette, posture and grace as the class evolves with your child's educational development.


Dance Combo class is for our first and second grade dancers. The combination of ballet, tap, creative movement and jazz are taught to give students a well-rounded base and a chance to explore all dance forms. The improved coordination and attnetion ssapn allows for a more concentrated class, and the introduction to proper dance technique.


 

Ballet is a classical dance form characterized by grace and precision and employing formalized steps and gestrues set in intricate, flowing patterns to create expression through movement. Ballet techniques have been developed for centuries, where music and dance tell a story.


Jazz is a form of dance that showcases a dancer's individua; style and originality. This type of dance is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns.

Tap is an exciting form of dance in which dancers wear special shoes equipped with metal taps. Tap dancers use their feet like drums to create rhythmic patterns and timely beats.

Lyrical dance fuses modern dance, jazz and ballet. The goal of the lyrical dancer is to convey the emotion of a songs lyrics through dance. Intense emotional expression of the face and body are neccessary to tell a story that evolves along the lines of the song to which the lyrical dance is perfromed.

 

Hip-Hop dance refers to dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved from  as part of the hip-hop culture. it includes a wde range of styles, notably breaking, locking, and popping.


 

Musical Theater is a class dedicated to singing, acting and dancing. in this class you will learn theater terminology and a history of Broadway. These students actually sing at recital, along with acting their scene and dancing.
